How do I know if a refund has gone through?

Modified on Mon, 12 Aug at 11:11 AM

If you perform a credit card refund in Hop by pressing the circular arrow "Refund" button/wheel, you may wish to check that it has been processed correctly.

(Please remember that only credit card payments that have been processed directly in Hop can be refunded in Hop).

If you click on the Refund button again, you will see a box appear to indicate that Hop has successfully processed the refund, and how much:

If the refund was only partial, and then you want to refund more from the same transaction, then you will see confirmation of the refund at the top, and then the opportunity to refund a further amount at the bottom, with how much you have left to refund. This pop-up will appear when you click the refund wheel/button again.

You will, however, need to log into your payment gateway providers' virtual terminal (i.e. Clover, HopPay/Trust, WorldPay, Stripe etc.) or speak to them directly if you wish to obtain further details.

Please note that if the payment you need to refund was with an offline card (i.e. through your PDQ machine/card machine) then you will need to refund the payment through your PDQ and post it onto Hop as a manual refund to an Offline Card. So that your charges balance when checking the guest out or cancelling a room. It will also ask you for the last 4 digits of the card and card type that you refunded with your PDQ and when you click '+Add Transaction' you will then see this information on the main transaction screen (second screenshot below).
