Why do the images in my email template display as code?

This is a known limitation of Gmail and other email clients which do not support a technique known as data URIs. There is unfortunately nothing we can do to fix this except advise that you do not to use Copy and Paste when adding images to email templates, as doing so will cause data URIs to be employed. 


Instead, if you need to attach an email to an email template, please go to Administration > Email Config and upload your image(s) there: 



They will then be available to add into your email using the Custom Image drop-down menu as shown here:
